These are old, and yet they still hang above my bed for various reasons. Number one, laziness! Number two, I do still like them. Up until probably this time last year, when I figured out how to really use my tablet and later ditch lineart, I don't reckon I could have done much better than the originals. So there they remain.
UNTIL NOW. ISH. Well, I've redone one, at least, that's a start. I was tempted to name this series after the booze that each of the nations will be holding, but then got to Tsayth, as ever, and that idea went out the window, so we're going with gemstones.
Raykin girl is made up as a star-tailed eagle, because as much as I love the yrae, can't really have a real one there in the picture with her, which I want to do with this series. Also, yrae is omfgBLUE which... doesn't quite convey the whole desert red thing as well as it could. So, invented eagle! For which I used about four separate references to draw, whee.
Yes, I cheated again on the buildings and made them in Maya first. I don't deny that this is cheating, but who's gonna stop me, huh?
The original, drawn back in November '04.

I am amazed by this Narti. I mean, I love the old one too, it's gorgeous but this is so fine, like I said it looks like it belongs in an art gallery.
what hits me first is the lighting, it's SO realistic, and really really beautiful. Then it's how realistic the clothes and jewels and really just everything looks, it's incredible and I'm super jealous.
The environment and background look gorgeous as ever and the eagle is lovely and doesn't take any focus of the main character which is great. Such lovely work, you should post some close ups as well. <3
Good luck with the other three =D!

I worked really hard on the lighting on this one to make the angle of the sun look right for sort of mid-afternoon, so glad it paid off *^^* And I was worried there would be too much of a split focus between girl and eagle, so I'm really glad to hear you say that, too :D
*licks* Thankuu, Kuuu~!
